<< File Wish List Door Version 5.0 >>
By Brian Kelley
(C)1989, 1990, 1991 Quik Rabbit Computing, All Rights Reserved
This program is distributed as ShareWare. Once you have
tried it out for a limited period (30 days) and continue to
use it on your BBS you are required to Register it. By
Registering you will also receive a Registration Code that
will unlock several features not found in the UnRegistered
version.
Purpose:
--------
Ever had a User make the comment that he would upload some files,
but the BBS just has so many he doesn't know what to Upload? File
Wish List was written to solve just that problem. It also makes for a
convenient way of letting the Sysop know what type file his/her users
want and affords the other Users of the BBS the opportunity to Upload
files that someone really wants, not just anything to get that File
Ratio in balance. File Wish List can be run as a Door program from
almost any BBS that supports that feature. It allows the User to
enter the Door and then View, Add, or Browse a file listing of
programs wanted by other Users or the Sysop. When adding a file the
User will be prompted for a file name and a file description. The
program will automatically add the User Requesting a file and also the
date requested. The file name and description fields do not restrict
a User to the normal DOS format of 8 characters and a 3 character
extension but allow for a 60 character description in both fields.
The UnRegistered Version of File Wish List will allow a Maximum of
9 records only. The Edit/Delete function is also only available in
the Registered version.

Instructions and Installation:
------------------------------
File Wish List Door will now work on any BBS that supports
Wildcat's 2.x Callinfo.BBS, RBBS & QBBS's Dorinfo.Def, Wildcat/GAP's
Door.Sys and PCBoard14's PCBoard.Sys. Locking the Comm port at speeds
up to 19200 is also supported. The .CFG file for ALL doors written
by Brian Kelley have changed significally from previous versions.
This was done to add support for more features and also decrease
the confusion of having Blank lines. Just follow the below listed
examples and modify the included .BAT and .CFG files to meet your
system configuration. A DTR patched copy of BRUN40.EXE must be
either in the door directory or DOS path. BRUN40 is NOT INCLUDED
with this package to save on space and time. If you are having
carrier drop problems call BRE and download a copy that works.
To test the door locally from DOS, type WISH5 or SWISH5 LOCAL.
When run from the DOS prompt the door will run only in UnRegistered
Mode since the .CFG file is NOT accessed.
If you are having problems getting the .CFG file setup right
download AutoCfg2.Zip which is available on BRE, Wildcat HQ, and
Exec-PC. This program will create the .CFG file for you.
The following is an example batch file of how the door needs
to be loaded when run from your BBS:
-------------
CD \WILDCAT\DOORS\WISH
WISH5 OR SWISH5 WISH.CFG
CD \WILDCAT
CAT; May not be required for WC 3.0
Listed below are .CFG file requirements
.CFG File Contents
---------------------------------------
Line 1: BBS Name
Line 2: Sysop's First Name
Line 3: Sysop's Last Name
Line 4: Path to file dropped by BBS
Line 5: BBS type
Line 6: Ascii Bulletin
Line 7: Ansi Bulletin
Line 8: Speed to Lock ComPort
Line 9: Registration Number
Wildcat 3.0 Example
---------------------------------------
Line 1: Broad River Emporium
Line 2: Ken
Line 3: Kelley
Line 4: C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE1\DOOR.SYS
Line 5: DOOR.SYS
Line 6: C:\WC30\BULL\BULL9.BBS
Line 7: C:\WC30\BULL\BULL9.SCR
Line 8: 19200
Line 9: 897643
Notes: (1) Line 4 MUST be either Callinfo.BBS, Door.Sys, PCBoard.Sys
or DorinfoX.Def
(2) Line 5 MUST be either WILDCAT, DOOR.SYS, PCBOARD, or RBBS
In this case Wildcat refers to 2.X versions. 3.0 should
use DOOR.SYS as the BBS type. Lines 4 and 5 MUST match
the BBS to file dropped.
(3) Lines 6 and 7 bulletins are only created in the Registered
Version.
(4) Line 8 - Acceptable are 9600, 19200, or NO
(6) Line 9 - Registration number can be any number until the door
is registered.
Special Wish List
-----------------
Special Wish List or SWISH5 is a separate program from WISH5 and
may or may not be utilized. Instead of having one file list like
WISH5 does it also has a Special Wish List. SWISH will access the
listing created by WISH and WISH will access the NORMAL listing that
is created by SWISH. It will not access the SPECIAL listing created
by SWISH. If you have different levels of access on you BBS, ie.
Paying Users and Non-Paying Users you might want to install SWISH
so that the Paying Users listing would not be cluttered up with the
general BBS user requests. Please note WISH5 and SWISH5 are two
separate programs and must be run from SEPARATE batch files. The
bulletins created from the information in the .CFG file are for the
normal listing only. If you want Bulletins of the Special Listing
the door creates two files in the door directory called SWISH.ASC
and SWISH.ANS which could be copied to your Bulletin listing via
the Door .BAT file.
Multi-Node Installation
-----------------------
When running File Wish List or any door from Quik-Rabbit
you should set your BBS configuration so that only one node can
access the door at a time. If your BBS will run Multi-Node using
only one .BAT file (Wildcat 3.0) the easiest way to run the door
is to set in your .CFG file the path to Door.Sys as the actual
door directory. The first command of your .BAT file would be to
copy Door.Sys to the door directory. By setting the door up in
this manner you eliminate multiple .BAT and .CFG files. An example
for Wildcat 3.0 follows:
Copy Door.Sys C:\DOORS\WISH
CD \WISH
WISH5 WISH5.CFG
CD \WC30
Since Wildcat automatically puts you in the Node directory there
is no reason to change there in your .BAT file prior to copying the
Door.Sys file. PLEASE NOTE - This setup REQUIRES that you have your
BBS setup so that the door can be accessed only by one node at a time.
If you have the door set to Multi-Node the last User who enters the
door has the Door.Sys file with his/her information in it copied over
the Door.Sys from the other Nodes. At the very least you would have
two very confused Users.
Registration:
-------------
Sysops who register their copy of File Wish List will
receive a Registration Code which will unlock the following
features:
(1) Displays Registered to Your BBS instead of UNREGISTERED.
(2) The number of files that can be in the request list is
Unlimited vice 9 for the UnRegisterd version.

Trouble Shooting
----------------
If you have problems getting this door to work, the following
is a list of problems that have occured repeatedly in the past.
1. Door will NOT run, either remote or local.
Ans. A copy of Brun40.EXE is either NOT in Door Dir. or path.
2. Door will run locally, but drops carrier.
Ans. You need a DTR patched copy of Brun40.EXE. Can be obtained
from BRE and many other BBS's.
3. Door attempts to run but returns error of Bad file name number
in Line 4, Line 5, Line 8, Line 9, etc.
Ans. Usually the line number directly corresponds to the line
number in your .CFG file. An incorrect .CFG file is the
Number 1 culprit when the door will not run. AutoCfg2
a program written to create .CFG files for all our doors
can be downloaded from BRE to make the task easier.
Another common .CFG error involves using WILDCAT as the
BBS type but using Door.Sys as the file to access.
Wildcat refers to 2.X version. Use Door.Sys as the BBS
type for Wildcat 3.0
